Clinical Case Challenge - Derm101

A 21-year-old male presents with a slowly expanding ulcer on his nose which has been present for a few months. The lesion is asymptomatic. The patient is otherwise well, although he was recently laid off from work as a certified nursing assistant. His only medications are pain relievers for chronic lower back pain, which he attributes to an on-the-job injury due to lifting a heavy patient. He takes no medications and denies using any illicit substances.
  • The patient is currently afebrile, and denies night sweats, cough, chills, or unintentional weight loss; review of systems is otherwise unremarkable.
